Nike Summer Internship – Lead Software Engineer

Job Description:

Nike has embraced big data technologies to enable data-driven decisions. We are looking a Lead Software Engineer to keep pace. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will work with a variety of hardworking Nike teammates and be a driving force for building world-class products utilizing consumer data. The ideal candidate will have significant software engineering experience, understand how to create distributed computing systems, comfort with ambiguity, mentoring junior engineers, drive to deliver results and will enjoy working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Seek complex data issues and perform root cause analysis
• Understand monitoring and performance analysis to help resolve operational & performance issues
• Strong programming experience in Go, Python, Rust or similar languages
• Design, build and maintain scalable streaming pipelines and access patterns related to consumer data.
• Hands on coder who understands the concepts behind distributed databases and how to build lambda architecture-based systems.

Job Requirements:

• Research, evaluate and utilize new technologies/tools/frameworks centered around high-volume data processing.
• Design and implement distributed data processing pipelines.
• Drive a culture of collaborative reviews of designs, code and test plans
• Utilize and advance continuous integration and deployment frameworks

Qualification & Experience:

• Experience building and shipping data production pipelines sourcing data from a diverse array of sources.
• Understanding CI & CD frameworks, such as Argo CD, and how to do zero down time deployments.
• Experience creating a culture of automation (DataOps/DevOps)
• Proven ability to mentor junior engineers.
• MS/BS in Computer Science, or related technical subject area
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in big data engineering and or high volume software engineering
• Experience with big data processing within cloud environments such as GCP
