Job Description:
Valero acquired the Benicia Refinery in 2000. Built as a grass-roots project in 1968, this plant has undergone significant modifications and upgrades to become what it is today one of the most complex refineries in the United States. Approximately 70 percent of the refinery’s product slate is California Air Resources Board (CARB) gasoline, California’s clean-burning fuel. The refinery also has significant asphalt production capabilities and produces 35 percent of the asphalt supply in northern California. Job Responsibilities:
- Assists with verifying payroll information for all new hires, current employees, and past employees.
- Assists with tracking Attendance Management absences.
- Plans and implements employees’ events.
- Performs administrative duties, including greeting and assisting guests and visitors, accepting delivered packages, acting as main contact for building problems, and reserving conference rooms, pool cars, and cell phones.
- Assists with generating yearly vacation packages/templates and memos.
- Provides administrative support for assigned HR areas.
- Assists employees with questions pertaining to assigned HR areas.
- Inputs data in HR Systems.
- Processes mail, answers and screen phone calls, makes copies, and completes general typing assignments.
- Works on special projects as necessary, such as creating new forms, completing word processing assignments, and producing general reports.
- Coordinates meetings and other Human Resources special events.
- Makes travel arrangements, and maintains records, schedules, and calendars.
- Assists with fatigue management reporting and manages exceptions in database.
- Maintains Payroll procedures manual and Kronos manual.
- Maintains local pay practices document.
- Assists with ordering and generating yearly Operations shift calendar.
- Supports employees with expense reports and per diem requests.
- Handles office supply inventory and ordering.
- Manages mail distribution.
- Assists with employee newsletter and HR portal.
- Effectively communicates with team members on an on-going basis.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Human Resources, Business, or related area preferred.
- Kronos experience preferred.
- SAP experience preferred.
Qualification & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3 years of general Human Resources experience required.
- Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) experience preferred.
