Job Description: Shortlisted candidates must be willing to take a translation proficiency test, as well as to practically demonstrate an aspect of teaching isiXhosa as a second language. Job Responsibilities: Assisting with context-specific research to inform best practice in the field of second-language teaching and/or terminology development. Translating English terminology into isiXhosa for academic purposes; Presenting isiXhosa language proficiency modules and short courses offered by the Language Centre to students and staff members through face-to-face and blended modes of delivery; Performing administrative tasks relating to isiXhosa language proficiency modules and short courses; Developing isiXhosa terminology for academic purposes; Assisting with training and mentoring isiXhosa facilitators working within the Language Centre; Assisting with internal translations from English to isiXhosa as requested; Job Requirements: Experience in curriculum development and assessment protocols; Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in isiXhosa; At least two years' teaching experience in the higher education environment, specifically in second-language acquisition; Experience in translation from English to isiXhosa; Highly developed organisational skills and the ability to work in a complex academic environment; Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); Good understanding of spoken and written English.
