Job Description:

The Department of Building Sciences has a permanent position for a Lecturer in the field of Quantity Surveying or Equivalent at the Pretoria Campus.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participate in/ and or lead subject and curriculation committees
• Participate in departmental and faculty initiatives for research and liaison with other stakeholders.
• To present lectures and assessment for students in Quantity Surveying and Construction
• Management subjects
• Responsible for administrative task related to teaching and learning
• Responsible for and provide leadership in compiling and maintaining quality study guides, subject files and other Teaching and Learning materials.
• Supervise Postgraduate Dissertations to completion
• To be an active participant in the research activities of the department especially in the field of
• Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
• Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other interactions.
• Lead quality teaching and learning with technology
• Initiate independent research and innovation projects and seek external funding

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying or equivalent with Master’s degree and nearing completion of a PhD.
• Supervision of postgraduate students with a proven record of accomplishment is compulsory.
• More than 5 years teaching experience in modules such as Descriptive Quantification, Construction
• Management, Construction Management Professional Practice, Construction Entrepreneurship, Property Law Facilities Management and Real Estate studies.
