Job Description:

The Department of Building Sciences has a permanent position for a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in the field of Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or Equivalent at the Pretoria Campus.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for and provide leadership in compiling and maintaining quality study guides, subject files and other Teaching and Learning materials.
• To present lectures and assessment for students in Quantity Surveying and Construction Management subjects
• Initiate independent research and innovation projects and seek external funding.
• Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other interactions.
• Lead quality teaching and learning with technology
• Supervise Postgraduate Dissertations to completion
• Participate in departmental and faculty initiatives for research and liaison with other stakeholders.
• Participate in/ and or lead subject and curriculation committees
• Responsible for administrative task related to teaching and learning
• To be an active participant in the research activities of the department especially in the field of Quantity Surveying or Construction Management

Job Requirements:

• BSc /BTech/Honours degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or equivalent
• A Doctoral Degree (for Senior Lecturer position) or master’s degree (Lecturer position) in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or equivalent.
• A minimum of five years (Senior Lecturer position) / three years (Lecturer position) teaching and/or research experience respectively.
• Industry liaison and involvement in the development of a new curriculum
• Experience with regards to management of academic matters, quality of program, student affairs, human resources, facilities, finances, research projects.
• Experience of research, supervision, and monitoring of post graduate students (Senior Lecturer)
• Respected in the field as an expert and an active participant in debates on current issues in the field.
• Supervisory experience in an academic environment.
