Job Description: SoCal Gas is looking for an individual with extensive construction experience within our Transmission and Storage group. We are in search of someone who is mechanically inclined and tool-oriented and demonstrates leadership. With pay starting at $40.710 / hr. we are offering comprehensive training to become a safe and efficient Pipeline Technician; skills that will prepare you for a career with SoCal Gas. Current opening is in Needles, CA. This is a DOT position. Job Responsibilities: Performs driver inspection on vehicles and construction equipment. Prepares various Company forms and, through sketches and written reports, documents work performed, changes made, and conditions found. Performs preventative maintenance on cathodic protection equipment. Takes and records cathodic protection reads. Drives heavy duty vehicles such as dump trucks and boom trucks and operates construction equipment such as cranes. Performs gas handling, fire control and fire watch operations on pipeline tie‐ins. Sets up and operates oxy/acetylene, nitrogen and natural gas regulators, fire control stacks, and purging equipment. Operates a wide range of pneumatic, hydraulic, and manual tools. Installs and operates basic tapping and pressure control equipment. Performs skilled operations and routine maintenance of heavy construction equipment. Assists with the installation, removal, repair and calibration of cathodic protection equipment on Company pipelines. Safely uses, handles, stores, and disposes of hazardous materials and hazardous waste. Job Requirements: Must pass a pre‐employment drug test if a new hire or transferring from a non‐safety sensitive job. Must have Class A, Hazardous Material Handling and Air Brake Endorsements on valid California Driver’s License. Physical Abilities test requires: Level A. Must have basic computer skills. Must have two years of working experience in Transmission, Storage, Construction. Must successfully pass the Physical Abilities Test. Requires participation in the Company’s random drug and alcohol testing program. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License. Must pass formal training for the classification.
