Primerica Internship – Data Center Technician

Job Description:

The Data Center Technician 3 monitors and supports Data Center infrastructure; Windows, Unix, Mainframe and Network. The Technician is responsible for performing routine functions to ensure maximum possible system availability and performance. Provide Tier One support for all production problems including problem identification, tracking and escalation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Researches questions using available information resources
• Advises user on appropriate action
• Responds to requests for technical assistance via phone and email
• Keeps detailed record of all phone calls
• Performs routine health checks on all production systems
• Communicates cross-functionally among technical, development and upper management levels
• Other tasks as assigned
• Follow standard Help Desk procedures
• Follows problem management procedures to diagnose, trouble-shoot and escalate issues
• Diagnoses and resolves technical hardware and software issues
• Monitors critical network elements, systems, email and applications using various monitoring tools

Job Requirements:

• Attendance and punctuality is a must
• Windows desktop and trouble-shooting skills required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a goal oriented team
• Self-motivated and directed
• Desire to learn new technology
• Must be pro-active and take initiative
• Ability to follow procedures and pay close attention to detail required
• Microsoft Office skills required
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment is a must.
• Ability to apply knowledge and analytical thinking to work through issues
• Web Browser skills required
• Advanced Windows operating system skills required
• Knowledge of Mainframe, Wintel and UNIX systems a plus
• Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
