Job Description:

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for the management of SARAO non-instrumentation facilities that are leased and owned in Gauteng Observatory to ensure that SARAO functions effectively and efficiently. The supervisor will provide a single point of entry for the co-ordination of all services relating to the efficient and effective running of Gauteng relative facilities, implement the local Gauteng facilities management plan, provide solutions, manage sustainability issues at the same time reducing the impact on Safety, Environment, Health and Security and responsible for housekeeping.

Job Responsibilities:

• Management of contractors and suppliers
• Manage tenants and leases
• Administrative duties including Supply Chain Management
• Working alongside housekeeping
• Manage all facilities leased and owned

Job Requirements:

• 4 years’ relevant working experience in facilities maintenance
• ND: Office Management, Facilities Management, Business Management, Property Management or related field
• Trade qualification (advantageous)
• 1 year working experience as facilities maintenance supervisor or facilities
• Driver’s license
• Knowledge of air-conditioning/refrigeration system
• Working knowledge of machinery such as generators, vehicles, air conditioners, electrical, sprinklers, fire equipment, plumbing, biometrics and construction etc.
