Job Description:

Provides authoritative guidance to senior management on financial systems and process strategies, and designs/implements novel solutions to new or unique financial management requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides lead oversight to the aforementioned functions; plans, develops, and implements accounting systems, policies, and practices to provide management control over the safeguarding of public funds.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated and integrated into the Office’s strategies, goals, objectives, and work; communicates the milestones to the team.
  • Leads the Office in identifying, distributing, balancing workload among employees, and redistributing as needed; arranges for Office training; monitors and reports on the status and progress of work.
  • Ensures proper operation and maintenance of financial systems, which provides the data for the preparation of key financial reports and transactions that flow into the Agency’s audited financial statements.
  • Provides technical advice on the implementation of new or modified processes or procedures related to programs, systems, functions, policies, and various controversial problems and/or issues.
  • Provides expert guidance to the staff to execute functions in a manner that facilitates achievement of Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) Enterprise strategic objectives.
  • Oversees the development of analytical tools, reports, and processes to support the financial and resources management functions of NASA programs/projects to ensure mission success and compliance with all appropriate policies, rules and regulations.
  • Works with the Regional Finance Office (RFO), as well as with a wide variety of OCFO members, to define technical work requirements and milestones.
