Job Description:

The HR Business Partner has responsibility for coordinating, executing and supporting the people strategy within the country. The role facilitates and ensures the implementation of Human Resource initiatives, effective participation in Union consultation & negotiations, manages all other HR responsibilities and provides coaching and guidance to managers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage Employee and Labour Relations issues ensuring we comply with South Africa Labour Regulations. Provide strategic and tactical direction required to successfully execute union/ labour issues
  • Be a strategic partner for your assigned business leaders and employees; developing strong working relationships to align the people strategy with business goals.
  • Quickly respond to requests for help from employees, managers or leaders, coaching where possible such that repeat requests are avoided
  • Work with the wider HR team to identify and drive forward continuous improvement activities and align in-country HR activities to the company’s HR Structure. With a specific focus on BBBEE and EEA
  • Provide advice and guidance to line management, as required, on the interpretation and application of local employment law and related HR policies and procedures and provide resourcing and recruitment advice where necessary
  • Empower, coach, and enable line managers to take full responsibility for the leadership and management of their teams, developing leaders of the future
  • Support line management in all organisational change activities ensuring the principles of fairness, equality of treatment and transparency are maintained whilst working within the relevant local legislative framework
  • Advise and support on all HR activities ensuring legislative and best practice processes are adhered to
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships across all levels of the business to fully understand business needs and how HR can positively impact

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working in a unionized environment – ideally with experience of negotiation and consultation gained at a multifunctional site
  • Matric
  • Significant experience of working either in a senior generalist or specialist HR role.
  • Degree in HR or related
