Job Responsibilities:

• Works as Lead; provides direction / instruction for resolving issues in all business areas
• Performs Delivery Driver and Local Driver duties
• Records all hours of service performed, as required by DOT
• Maintains mule / tractor / trailer equipment in accordance with prescribed preventive maintenance schedule
• Unloads trailer at Store deliveries
• Adheres to accountability methods of receiving all products as purchased / loaded onto the trailer at pick-up time from vendor
• Maintains responsibility for content and condition of cargo / commodity / product within trailer; ensures all cargo is secured
• Monitors, documents, and controls refrigerated commodities requiring specific temperature settings / readings
• Completes all required documents for load transporting, including vendors, store deliveries, bills of lading, etc.
• Maintains status as a qualified driver in compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)

Job Requirements:

• Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical and drug screen, and meet all DOT driver qualifications
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks in a fast-paced, unsupervised environment; attention to detail
• Proficiency in DOT, local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and company safety policies
• Knowledge of the English language (according to Regulation 398.3 (c)(4), ‘Every driver shall be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals and directions given in English and to respond to officials’ inquiries’)
• Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays

Qualification & Experience:

• No more than 1 moving violation within the last 3 years (none in past 12 months)
• Minimum age of 21 years
• Maintain status as an FMCSR-qualified driver
• 2 years and 100,000 miles of driving experience (external)
• 15,000 H-E-B miles of driving experience or certification as an H-E-B relief driver (internal); meet all required qualifications as a driver
• Never had a suspended or revoked driver licenses, permits, or privileges in any state / county
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Documented proof of a good driving record; applicants chosen to be interviewed must obtain a Life History MVR from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)-see below for instructions. * NOTE: Police reports will be requested on an applicant whose MVR record reflects an accident
• 3-year clear MVR; record will be reviewed for preventability, based on H-E-B standards
