Job Description:

They provide expert patient support to undiagnosed, waiting for ART, lost to follow up and unsuppressed MLHIV to be linked/relinked to HIV and TB Care and treatment in order to reduce their risk of negative outcomes from COVID, and/or HIVand/or TB.

Job Responsibilities:

• Establishing a network to access MLHIV
• Simultaneously recruit and provide HIV education to the mentioned MLHIV and index contacts to support them to progress the HIV patient journey to the next stage; either be tested for HIV, be linked to initiation onto antiretroviral therapy, maintained on treatment, or persuaded to be returned to treatment.
• Build trust over time amongst clients until they are ready to share details of their contacts and conduct client elicitation.
• Consult the Team Lead for any problems or challenges faced that you are unable to solve yourself.
• Link male clients that are ready for HTS or Index services to community (or facility) Lay
• Counselors services, and clients that are ready to engage/re-engage into treatment to the community (or facility) Professional Nurse via the Linkage Officers.
• Submit reporting templates, assessment forms to the Team weekly.
• Keep a record of the status and performance of mentees as outlined in BroadReach Documentation.
• Trace afore-mentioned men and counsel them on the heightened need to be vaccinated to link them to COVID vaccination
• Any other role assigned by your manager within reason of your scope of work.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to mobilize, support and mentor Men Living with HIV (MLHIV)
• Able to maintain confidentiality always
• Capacity to work with selected clinics
• Lay counsellor certificate
• Listens with empathy
• Understanding of key reasons for COVID-19 vaccination, especially as it pertains to PLHIV, would be an advantage.
• Proven comfort with disclosing positive HIV status and serve as a role model as a man living healthily on treatment and reaching viral suppression is an advantage
• Matric or Higher educational qualification
• Good communication skills
• Knowledge of basic HIV and HIV counselling experience would be an advantage
• At least 2 years’ experience in health promotion and health education activities within the community
• Proven comfort with disclosing positive HIV status
