Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the COVID Mobiliser in the DREAMS team is to support the upscale of COVID-19 vaccinations through the mobilisation of patients in the facilities and surrounding communities being visited by the DREAMS team to access vaccination services.

Job Responsibilities:

• Actively mobilize above mentioned population groups to access vaccination services provided by the Facility or Community Vaccination teams,
• Support adherence by educating youth about self-management of HIV/AIDS and/or TB, including the benefits to patient’s own prognosis, stopping the transmission of HIV if suppressed, and to the lower risk of severe disease from COVID if suppressed/successfully treated and vaccinated
• Provide health education on health-related issues at appropriate events (as assigned by line manager)
• Host and facilitate community dialogues amongst youth on vaccination, HIV testing, TB screening, treatment, viral suppression.
• Sensitize youth to the need for Antiretroviral therapy to remain healthy if positive and to the option of PrEP if negative to reduce their risk of contracting HIV
• Assist supported facilities in coordinating COVID Vaccination and HIV/AIDS awareness events, dialogues, health education
• Engage youth leaders, youth ambassadors and young social influencers in the community to mobilize their social networks for vaccinations.
• Mobilize youth in supported communities for voluntary and confidential HIV testing, including first-time and repeat testing at intervals as prescribed by South African guidelines.
• Conduct group information / education sessions with health service users on COVID-19 vaccinations, with disproportionate targeting of under 35s and students.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to present information in a simple layman’s language.
• HIV/AIDS basic knowledge
• HIV/AIDS Counselling certificate
• 10 Day Adherence Counselling certificate
• Senior Certificate (Grade12) or equivalent
• Up to 3 months experience working in the HIV sector and knowledge of demand creation or social mobilisation.
• Experience in facilitating community dialogues
