Job Description:
The applicant will work in the School’s museum, which curates animal and plant specimens, has live organisms and several displays. The School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences is a leader in several disciplines locally and globally, and one of the top Schools in the Faculty of Science in terms of teaching excellence and research output.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with materials and preparation for practical sessions and fieldtrips for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Supervise students in the proper use of microscopes.
- Contribute to the running of the Museum.
- Prepare, maintain and care for preserved and wet museum collections.
- Assisting with the logistics around outreach programs/public events, such as Yebo Gogga (display materials, meeting preparations, etc.).
Job Requirements:
- Experience and interest in taxonomy of both plants and animals
- Excellent oral and written skills in English
- Valid current driver’s licence (code B or EB)
- BSc degree. A BSc honours degree would be an advantage
- Ability to communicate effectively (in English) with both students and staff
- Competency in basic computer skills
